On Friday 22 May (Week 4) the MCR was delighted and honoured to host the new Lady Margaret Professor of Divinity at Christ Church, Oxford, Carol Harrison. Professor Harrison is the first female Lady Margaret Professor, following in the footsteps of many distinguished figures including John Macquarrie (1970-86) and Rowan Williams (1986-91), and her research focuses on the theology of St Augustine (354-430). Before coming to Oxford, Professor Harrison spent time in Paris and over two decades in Durham. After Formal Hall at Regent’s, she spoke about her career and reflected on some of the challenges facing students of Patristics and postgraduates in particular. A good number of Regent’s students and guests attended, and an enjoyable evening was had by all!
